We are pleased to announce that the DARIAH Innovation Forum #1 will take place on Nov 2-4 in Aarhus.

Overview

During this 3-day event keynotes, workshops and a matchmaking event will highlight DARIAH’s relations with traditional and digital industries. The DARIAH Innovation Forum is organised in the framework of our Humanities at Scale (HaS) project.

Taking place in Europe’s Capital of Culture

Aarhus is European Capital of Culture 2017, and will offer a vibrant environment of cultural events, artistic interventions and performance productions, creative neighborhoods and culinary venues for the DARIAH Innovation Forum. The event takes place back-to-back with Creativity World Forum (Nov 1-2), the annual grand scale event for the global organization Districts of Creativity, this year hosted by Aarhus 2017 European Capital of Culture.

Scope

The Innovation Froum #1 will strengthen and further explore cooperations of DARIAH and traditional industries associated with Arts and Humanities, like design and media, as well as new digital industries, like game development, social media, VR and AR.

Arts and Humanities have traditionally contributed on a large scale to both societal re-thinking, change and innovation as well as to shaping models and input for public innovation. Today, very much furthered by the digital transformation, Arts and Humanities may have a unprecedented window of opportunity for impacting both societal change, cultural re-thinking and the development of creative talent.

Arts and Humanities’ innovation potentials are closely related to cultural heritage and the new roles of GLAM institutions, to a global field of digitally enhanced education and training, and to the development of interactive applications for e.g. social media and crowd sourcing as well as for born digital resources with Cultural (Big) Data, the Internet of (Cultural) Things.

Digital Arts and Humanities may prove seminal to how cultural creative value chains for more than economic measures can be analyzed, reported and brought to public knowledge and creative application, and form a basis for policy making on an European level, where cultural spill-overs for creative innovation and the cultural creative sector are in focus.

The DARIAH Innovation Forum #1 brings together researchers and the creative industries. Through its membership organisations, DARIAH already has a large expertise in the management and creative use of complex digital media assets, which underlie a lot of economic activity within the context of the European content industries.

The Innovation Forum will strengthen and further explore cooperations of DARIAH and traditional industries associated with Arts and Humanities, like design and media, as well as new digital industries, like game development, social media, VR and AR.
